Introduction
- When it was suggested that I compile some of the history of the Village of
Mt. Brydges, I considered such a task as being next to impossible. There are
families living in the area with generations ofbackground, folk tales and lore
that could be compiled into a history covering a greater span of time and
relating to many years of happenings.
- I thought of the period when I was a boy, a youth and a young man in the
village, some of the happenings, the tales told about other decades and the
interesting lifestyle of a typical small community of the 1920s and '30s.
- There are those still living who will recall some of the people recorded
in this chronicle. Numerous instances outlined in the following pages will
also conjure other instances, other happenings and some personal anecdotes
connected with their formative years.
- A chronicle is a period of history; it can be amusing, entertaining, fact
and fiction, a record of folk lore and a review of other generations. The
following pages will embrace all these features.
